Return Policy: ONLINE STORE
Return of Clothing and Non-Defective Goods.
Customers may return clothing purchased online for a refund subject to the conditions below:
- All returns require an authorization number from Maiwa. Return authorization must be requested within 3 days of receiving goods. Returns must be shipped within 1 week of receiving authorization.
- Customers will receive a refund for the price of goods and taxes only - shipping is non-refundable.
- Customers are responsible for return shipping to Maiwa.
- Goods must be in original condition with all tags and labels attached, unwashed and unworn - in pristine condition ready for resale. Goods must have no trace of perfume, makeup, deodorant etc.
Return of Defective Goods
Maiwa Handprints Ltd. will substitute or replace defective goods at our discretion (see shipping below for goods damaged in shipping). To receive authorization, please email maiwa (at maiwa@maiwa.com) with photos of any defects within two weeks of receipt of goods. Please include your order number also.
Once return authorization is received customers are responsible for shipping costs back to Maiwa Handprints Ltd. We will not accept COD shipments. COD shipments will be refused.
All Returns
For international customers: Check with your courier or postal authority for the correct way to return goods so that they are not charged duty at the border.
We recommend you write “Returned Goods” in a highly visible area on the package, as well as on the waybill when it is created. Any fees and duty charges incurred by Maiwa will be deducted from the refund.
If your shipment is charged duty or customs fees these will be deducted from any reimbursement. Returns from the US should be shipped via USPS not UPS.
For exchange of defective goods, Maiwa will pay the shipping costs of sending the replacement goods from Maiwa to the customer. In the case of any other exchanges the customer will be charged the appropriate shipping fees.
The item being returned must be in original condition with original tags attached. Please be mindful of cosmetics, deodorants or perfumes when trying on a garment. Please also be gentle with zippers and delicate, light-weight fabrics.
Maiwa does not assume any shipping costs or duties on exchanges. Any additional shipping charges incurred when shipping out an exchange will be charged to your credit card and shipped according to your preferred shipping method.
Shipping
RUSH SHIPPING: Orders received before 9:30am with a rush shipping method will be prepared the same day. Orders received after 9:30am will go out the next business day. Please note estimated shipping times begin the day after pickup by the carrier. Cross boarder shipping times are estimates only (due to delays at customs).
NOTE: Shipments going to USA or other international destinations may be delayed by Customs. The Customs office is in the destination country. Customs delays can alter shipping estimates and are outside of our control. Please be aware of potential border delays when choosing a fast (and expensive) shipping method.
Maiwa will not undervalue goods for customs purposes.
Purchases and refund use the exchange rate on the date they are processed. Exchange rates fluctuate over time and are outside of our control. We do not adjust refunds (either up or down) to reflect a difference in exchange rate.
Customers will receive an invoice via email. A shipping invoice will accompany the parcel. These invoices are necessary to clear customs. It is the customer’s responsibility to communicate with the customs office to ensure clearance.
Tax Identification Number.
For customers outside of Canada and the USA: Certain countries require a proper tax number to clear customs. Foreigners residing in Spain, for example, are required to have an NIE (Foreigner Identity Number). If you are required to have a tax number, please notify us at the time of purchase with the number so that it may be included in the package. Maiwa is not liable for packages refused by customs.
International Tracking:
For Xpresspost International items, the tracking number is compatible with the destinations country's local postal service’s website. We advise customers to track packages in order to quickly resolve any shipping issues. Canada Post regulations require signatures on all Xpresspost deliveries.
Goods Damaged in Shipping:
Maiwa is not liable for damages once the shipment is in the hands of any carrier.
If goods appear to have been damaged it transit Maiwa will open a case with the carrier. As part of this process photo documentation is required showing damage to the product and the packaging. The customer must keep all packing materials and products until the claim is settled.
Secondary Shipping Company:
Maiwa insurance is valid for the duration of time in transit with Canada Post. Maiwa does not cover any damage caused while in transit with a secondary shipping company.
Free Shipping:
Free shipping is offered for purchases made through the Maiwa online store. Free shipping is available within Canada and the United States. Orders must total 100 Canadian dollars before taxes. Free shipping does not apply to special orders, in-store items, or items not listed on the Maiwa website. Maiwa reserves the right to withdraw free shipping for low-value, high weight (or bulk) orders.
Refused Delivery:
Customers are responsible for ensuring their address is correct and complete. Maiwa will not be held responsible for shipping to incorrect addresses. In the case where a shipment is returned to us, the customer is entitled to a refund for cost of goods less shipping charges and any return shipping or customs charges incurred. In the case of refused delivery on an order entitled to free shipping, the customer is entitled to a refund for cost of goods less Maiwa's cost of shipping to the customer and any return shipping or customs charges incurred.
Product Use Disclaimer
Customers are responsible for dye and paint choices and recommendations. Our staff and website does its best to assist customers in estimating quantities, procedures and products. Dye recipes and paint procedures should be tested prior to all projects. Maiwa will not be held responsible for cost of products and/or labour to produce finished projects. Instructions are available free with each product purchased, please ensure you read and understood them before beginning.
The information given on this website and otherwise supplied to users is based on our general experience and, where applicable, on the results of tests on samples of typical manufacture. However, because of the many factors which are outside our knowledge and control which can affect the use of these products, neither Maiwa nor the manufacturer can accept liability for any injury, loss or damage resulting from reliance upon such information.

Safe Use
Although no chemical is entirely free from hazard, these products will present a low to no heath risk, provided that good standards of studio hygiene are observed in their use and storage. All persons handling them should take precautions to avoid accidental ingestion, inhalation, skin/eye contact, and should be aware of any limitiations of specific products.
While dyes and the chemicals associated with their use are not highly toxic, they are industrial chemicals and should be handled with care. If chemical products get into the eyes by accident, wash thoroughly with water and obtain medical treatment. Prolonged or repeated contact with skin should be avoided. Wear rubber gloves and use implements to stir solutions and dyebaths. Inhalation of dusts should be avoided. If the dyes and/or associated chemicles are handled where particles may become airborne, a suitable dust respirator should be worn.
Obviously, chemicals should not be taken internally, and food, drink and smoking materials should be prohibited where chemicals are employed. The utensils used for dyeing should not be used for other domestic purposes (eg. food). A final suggestion: Children and animals are naturally curious. Do not leave open jars or bottles where little hands and paws may get to them.

Privacy Policy
Maiwa Handprints Ltd. collects personal information as required to fill orders and ship goods. We do not disclose or share any personal information with any other party. Credit card information is not stored on our server once an order has been processed.
Maiwa Handprints Ltd. does maintain a mailing list and makes periodic mailings to individuals both via regular mail and an electronic newsletter. All users may opt out of these mailing through a link on the email. We will immediately remove individuals from these lists if requested. Some mailings are regional and will not be sent to all individuals on our mailing list.
