Chaya Top - Handspun Handwoven Cotton - Natural

$145.00

An easy pullover top with a cute boxy fit and a rounded neckline. This piece can be dressed up or down and has a nice relaxed fit. Made from cloth that is as meaningful as it is beautiful; handspun and handwoven kala cotton cloth.

Fabric made through personal labour is known as khadi - cloth handwoven from handspun threads. Khadi had a central role to play in countering the displacement of family life that took place during industrialization and British colonization in India. It embodies an idea of cultural self-sufficiency with deep roots in Indian identity. This khadi cloth is made with kala cotton, an “old world” indigenous cotton which is adapted to low water requirements and extremely arid conditions. It is ecologically sustainable and makes the most exquisite cotton cloth.
