Kala Cotton Throw - Handwoven & Stitched - Mosaic

$275.00

A handwoven throw from master weavers in the Kachchh desert of India. Featuring running stitch throughout.  A versatile piece of cloth that can be used in the home, for picnics, camping, or at the beach!

The embroidery of the Dhebaria Rabari (a tribal group living in Kachchh, India) is a distinct combination of stitch and appliqué. The aesthetic is immediately recognizable and unlike the work of any other group.

Kala cotton is indigenous to Kachchh. It is organic - as the farmers do not use any pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. It is a purely rain fed crop that has a high tolerance for both disease and pests, and requires minimal investment. It is resilient and resurgent in the face of difficult land conditions.
