Bengal Handwoven Shawl - Cotton - Indigo Cutch Plaid

A beautiful shawl handwoven with thread-dyed indigo and cutch on cotton. With  thoughtful hand stitching along each raw edge to bring the textile together.

Naturally dyed & handwoven by village artisans in Bengal. By dyeing the cotton threads before weaving, the warp and weft combine to create a rich colour with a unique depth and shade. This cloth celebrates the handcraft and skill of the dyers and weavers who created it.

Handweaves are so much more than simply beautiful cloth - they represent the idea of cultural self-sufficiency with deep roots in the Indian identity.

Process:  Thread-dyed with natural dyes and handwoven by master weavers in Bengal, India.

Size is approx. 35” x 80” 

Note: Indigo is a friendly dye and likes to share its colour. You can expect some colour to rub off on your skin or other clothing for the first part of this textile's life.
