Shibori & Ikat
Wonderful patterning can be created through the resist method called Shibori (also known as tie – dye, bandhani or plongee). This is the historical method of tying and shaping cloth by plucking, pinching twisting, stitching, folding, pleating or compressing as in pole wrapping prior to dyeing to create design. The effects created in this process are limited only by the imagination.
Ikat is a resist treatment in which the yarns to be woven (either by warp, weft or both), are organized, bound and dyed before the actual weaving takes place. The resisted areas meet on the loom and line up to create intricate patterns.
