Fabric - Organic Cotton Block Printed with Natural Dyes - Clay Bloom

Maiwa has worked with block printed fabric for over 30 years. The cloth has been hand block printed with natural dyes by skilled "Dabu" block printers in Rajasthan, India. Light to medium weight fabric is perfect for garments and quilting. 

Artisans create a mud mixture known as Dabu — it must be the right consistency to be applied with a wooden block, be taken up by the fabric, and to remain intact through the immersion dyebath. The mud acts to resist the dye. The character of dabu and the wooden blocks used to apply it work together to create the distinctive patterns known as “dabu” prints.

Fiber: 100% Medium Weight Organic Cotton.

Care Instructions: This fabric is pre-shrunk and easy to take care of - a gentle machine or hand wash is recommended with cool water and pH neutral bio-degradable liquid soap. Immediately either hang to dry or tumble dry on medium heat. 

Process: Block printed by hand with natural dyes by master craftspeople in Rajasthan, India.
