This is a special formulation of two types of cochineal ink made for the 2019 Ink Takes Shape project. Two ampules (approx. 22 ml each) of cochineal ink. One cochineal red, one cochineal purple - each type is identified by a vintage Canadian Postage Stamp featuring Yousuf Karsh's portrait of Queen Elizabeth. Two empty 30 ml (1oz) jars. An information card. Packaged in a wooden box, tied with string and sealed with a wax seal.
This is a special vintage edition ink formulated by Maiwa's inkmaker Tim McLaughlin. The edition is part of the 2019 Ink Takes Shape project — a collaboration with North Carolina ink maker Thomas Little. Each portion of ink was made by Tim McLaughlin and then sealed with a glassblower's torch by Thomas Little in one of his signature ampules (@a.rural.pen). These ampules were previously featured in the Natural Dye exhibition "Further Evidence" at the Pendland Gallery, Penland School of Craft, North Carolina (2019). There are only 50 of these boxed sets available for purchase.
