Dabu is a blockprinting technique where artisans use the fine desert sands of Jaipur and surrounding villages in Rajasthan to create a mud resist. The mud must be the right consistency to be applied with a wooden block, taken up by the fabric, and remain intact through an immersion dyebath to resist the natural dyes. The end result is a unique and intricate pattern.
