Mumbai Cotton Block Print - Duvet Cover & Pillowcase Set - Indigo Botanical

$350.00

An exceptional duvet cover featuring a Mumbai block print on one side and soft handwoven cotton on the other. Comes with a set of pillowcases (2 total). Pairs beautifully with our handwoven or block printed sheets.

Made with fine cotton that has been masterfully block printed with natural dyes. Featuring contemporary wood blocks specially cut to imitate distressed painterly techniques, combined with the more familiar play of repeat geometric forms.

Over the centuries, communities of block printers have often migrated. When they do, their designs and ways of working change and evolve. This is certainly true of the Mumbai block printers. Originally dyers from Kachchh, Gujarat, they have taken the art of hand block printing in a completely new direction. Still working with natural dyes and traditional processes, they only work in contemporary designs they themselves create.

Details: Sewn at our studio in Vancouver, Canada. We've selected a complementary handwoven piece for the back side of this duvet. Button closure with 7 sweet hand-carved buttons.

Fiber: 100% Cotton.

Process: Front side - block printed by hand with natural dyes by master craftspeople in Mumbai, India. Reverse side - thread-dyed with natural dyes and handwoven by master craftspeople in Bengal, India.

Sizes:

Queen Duvet - approx. 86" x 86"

Pillow cases - approx. 19" x 30"

Care Instructions: Your bedding can be gently machine or hand washed with cool water. To protect the natural dyes you absolutely must use a pH neutral liquid detergent. Wash with similar colours.  Immediately hang to dry or tumble dry on medium heat.

Recommended detergents: Ecos, Eucalan, Tru Earth or a mild liquid detergent no higher than pH 7

- Tru Earth must dissolve completely in water before adding garments to wash

Note on Indigo Colour: Indigo is a friendly dye and likes to share its colour. You can expect some colour rub off with your new textiles. We recommend washing separately.

Note: Colours may appear differently depending on monitors and lighting.
