Lace Knitting
The most complex lace patterns come together in fabric that provides warmth and comfort with just a gentle drape of cloth over our shoulders. The subtle whisper of a glorious lace piece has the power to relieve and restore, to generate wonder and creativity. The interplay of positive and negative, of holes and solid background, of art and arithmetic, of flowers and geometry can leave a lace knitter breathless. During this intensive three-day workshop, participants will explore the glory of expression through lace knitting. Students will work through the complexity of organizing holes into lacy openwork fabric and apply these skills to capelet designs. Day one begins with the foundation of lace construction.Participants will knit a sampler of basic lace patterns. On day two they will complete complex lace samples and then begin the design process. Day three brings all the elements together as students begin working on their unique piece. Basic knitting skills are required for this workshop. Lab fee includes all materials necessary to finish the class project. Venessa will also be teaching the Knit Felt Embellish workshops.
